Understanding How Engagement Works

In the Engagement Dashboard you will be able to view the Engagement Level for:

  1. Members
  2. Groups
  3. Announcements 
  4. Events 
  5. Posts

You will notice that when viewing Engagement, each Member, Group, Announcement, Event and Post  is a given a specific Engagement status bases on their Engagement score.

Possible Engagement Statuses:

  1. Engaged
  2. Active
  3. Passive
  4. Unreached


So what is Engagement?
Engagement is a summary of user activity over time that takes into account the type of activity and frequency of activity. 

How is Engagement Calculated?
Engagement is calculated by assigning an engagement to level/value to every activity and maintaining a running total for each member, group, announcement, event and post. For example, when a member logs into their app and updates their profile, they are assigned engagement points. 

As an Administrator, what should I do with this information?
This is a powerful dashboard that allows you to see a significant amount of information for your organization. 

You can sort the engagement data to focus on specific groups, or isolate activities. 

Key things to notice:

  1. Which Members & Groups are engaged (member engagement)
    1. You can download members (for example unreached) and put those members into a group for an engagement campaign! 
  2. Most Engaging Delivery Methods (announcement engagement)
  3. Most Engaging Content (group engagement data and announcement engagement) 

Use these key ideas to start shaping your usage and ensure that you're targeting the right people with the right information!
